Jul. 31st, 2012 09:26 pmThe Tesseract was lighter than he thought it'd be, and easier to get his hands on, too, espeically while his men tore their way through the rest of the SHIELD helicarrier. He'd gotten both the things he'd come here for; information abut what happened to her, and the tesseract. Now all he had to do was get out of here.
Steve Rogers had awaken from being frozen in the ice only about 3 months before, all to find everything he knew had changed, and that the woman he loved was dead, too. Not that things would've changed between them if she wasn't, if he hadn't been frozen at all, but at least he would've still gotten to see her. That was half the reason he'd gone to all the trouble to infiltrate this place, to find out what had happened to Peggy Carter. The other half was in a briefcase he held in his hand now. His other hand, of course, held his trusty pistol, and he'd already used it to kill the men guarding the cube.
He hadn't done the infiltration himself, of course; no, that was a couple of his men. He knew he'd be recognized instantly, this place was the predecessor to the SSR, after all, and he really wouldn't be surprised if they already knew he was back, freed by one of HYDRA's many offshoots.
The lights above him blinked on and off before they finally gave up as he travelled down the hall and toward the flight deck. Just had to get to one the crafts his men had landed there, then he could get back to finishing what he'd started seventy years ago.
